Norma contacted us a couple months ago. She visited our site, like you are now and had some concerns.
Norma and her husband were looking to retire soon, didn’t want such a big house. they wanted to move from Bailey to Knightdale.
Their kids left the home and started families, went to college etc. and so Norma and her husband were looking to simplify, downsize and slow down.
She worked at a long term care clinic which during this time is really stressful 🙁
Between her patients, employees, and visitors, there’s a lot of moving pieces keeping everyone healthy and safe. A couple of her co workers even contracted covid-19 and died adding to the daily stress.
She wanted to sell her home as is for cash, have 30 days to move out and not feel rushed. She wanted a fair price, though realized the home was in somewhat disrepair. The roof needed to be updated, the kitchen and baths needed to as well, along with all cosmetics inside.
There’s always a difference between livable and sellable. Sellable requires all modern upgrades, because the buyers in this market are kinda picky haha..
Anyway, we determined that the price Norman wanted, we can handle. It was just important to her to be able to stay for 30 days after closing. So we agreed on terms, gave her 30 days post close to get a moving truck (which we helped her find), find some movers (we helped her find) and helped her coordinate and even sent a mobile notary to her home ( to make it easier for her)
Because of the 30 day post close possession, we had the attorney draft up a document to hold back some funds until she vacates the property (to protect both sides)
On day 29 she was off to Knightdale where she wanted to simplify and retire.
I talked with her 30 days after that to check in, and she mentioned that retirement was actually a bit odd for her considering she worked her entire life and now didn’t know what to do anymore…I told her that is a good problem to have, and to now enjoy, relax and find some hobbies to explore etc.
